Hmm.."Intentions and Actions", what a serious topic to talk about(I am not a manager yet ;-)). Haa..haa..I write this coz of a nice little incident that took place at my dad's office a few days back. Here it goes:
A General Manager at my dad's office had requested for an additional staff to be posted to his department. My dad tried his best, but couldn't find an additional staff. So, he apologetically went to the GM and said "Sir, I had the intention of providing you the additional staff, but....". To which, the GM had to say "Look Mr. Balakrishna, Intentions can neither be rewarded nor be punished. For instance, I have the intention of getting a huge deposit for the bank, but cannot get it. I cannot be rewarded for that. On the contrary, I have the intention of murdering my neighbour. I cannot be punished for it either."
The point was made there so beautifully. Intentions are not enough, we need action. On a lighter note, who says intentions cannot be rewarded?? Wasn't Mr. Barak Obama presented the Noble prize for peace for his intentions of world peace? :)
So this new year, I resolve to convert more of my intentions to actions.
(At least the good ones to begin with ;-))
